Ian Brown joined Guarded Systems in July 2011 after serving for several years as an independent consultant to the company. He accepted the CEO position in order to execute on the company's long-term strategic plans for global growth based on the timeless core values of quality engineering, reliability, exceptional support and innovation to the Hospitality Industry.
From 2003 to 2010, Ian was Vice President of North America Sales for Nomadix, during which time he oversaw its transformation into the major provider to the Hospitality industry for HSIA edge gateways. During his tenure at Nomadix Ian was the representative on HTNG In Room Technology Working Group helping to establish the requirements for guest access. Seeing the need to provide a better HSIA solution than what was available, Ian began a venture consulting company and joined with Adnan Syed of Guarded Systems to bring a complete solution to the Hospitality industry.
As a sales and marketing executive for over thirty years in the high technology industry, Ian has a demonstrated proven track record and career developing and growing start-ups into profitable businesses. As a respected entrepreneur, Ian has spent the past 30 years developing leading-edge businesses that transform the industry through technology and innovation.
A career start in the military-defense industry as an engineer and business development executive developed into a deep understanding of the aerospace industry, project management and a unique perspective in business development and marketing. This led to an expertise in dealing with International clients and sales strategies in complex environments.
His experience has included positions at the Vice President level at Martin Marietta International, Sawtek, Winnet MCS, Nomadix and Senior Management level positions at NSA, Masscomp, Harris, Netspeak, Wellfleet-Bay Networks and Cacheflow-Bluecoat Systems. He has been a key to the success of many of these businesses getting beyond the start-up phase and maturing into successful organizations.
Ian received his Bachelor and Masters degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of South Florida and is a graduate of the Harris Executive MBA program at the University of Florida.
Adnan Syed founded Guarded Systems in February of 2006 to address the voids in the technology delivery and adoption in hospitality markets.
Mr. Syed has held many key technical positions with various companies such as XO Communications, Maximspeed Communications, Convergys, K2 Services and Zerowire Technologies.
Prior to Launching Guarded Systems Mr. Syed had established name in the Hospitality Industry as a knowledgeable and out of the box thinker.
Mr. Syed continues to guide the Guarded Development, Operations and Support teams.
Ashfaq Ali joined Adnan Syed at Guarded Systems in 2008 as the Chief Technology Officer in order to develop and enhance the capabilities of the company products. He took the responsibility of developing and managing the team that developed a new central system in order to fulfill the long term strategic goal of the company to serve as an end-to-end turn-key solution provider for the hospitality industry.
With over ten years of technical expertise in the field of software based solutions he also brings to Guarded Systems business knowledge for such solutions which helped in not only creating a practical package for our clients but also for the end user
Prior to joining Guarded Systems in 2008 Ashfaq developed software solutions for Unisys & DHL and provided technical & business solutions and consulting to the banking industry and financial exchanges throughout Europe and the Mid East. He has extensive experience in project management and software development with Microsoft and open source technologies.
Ashfaq has a Bachelor and Masters degree in computer science from BCCI FAST-ICS and SZABIST Universities in Karachi, Pakistan.
